Bugzilla – Bug 10532
xorg 6.8.2 fail to resurrect
Last modified: 2008-02-11 04:01:02 UTC
my system is sourcemage 0.95 stable, and when i cast xorg, it all goes smoothly, in the end it make a bz2 file in /var/cache/sorcery/ directory. and i backup this file to another partition. but when i reinstalled sourcemage and copy the backup to /var/cache/sorcery/, xorg 6.8.2 fail to resurrect, i wonder if the backup file is damaged, so i use the command "tar -xvjf xorg-6.8.2*.tar.bz2 -C /tmp" to test, error goes like this: /var/lib/xkb/README tar:Error exit delayed from previous errors after a second and third recast of xorg, i always found the tar.bz2 file corrupt, so i believe somewhere goes wrong, but i am a novice linux lover, so can you help me about this problem, thank you very much.
I'm not sure this is the cauldron's problem.... so I'm going to make some noise on the mailing list, because I'm truly not sure where this should go...
IMO this is not a bug, it's an sm-users/forums item. I think you'll be better off switching to the mailing list (http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/sm-users) or forums (http://www.sourcemage.org/forum/), and finding somebody who has a good binary cache tarball for your architecture anf glibc version. You can then arrange to get this file and try resurrecting X from it. Also, did you try recasting X?
Please reopen this bug if the problem hasn't been solved
