Description Florian Franzmann 2006-07-20 11:11:00 UTC
Hitting the Delete, Home or End key just produces a ~ character in X terminal
emulators.
Comment 1 Seth Woolley 2006-07-20 11:29:46 UTC
While we install /etc/inputrc (not sure where, must be from the newer isos),
that's useless if there's no ~/.inputrc file with a line with '$include
/etc/inputrc' in it.

Adding that to your home directory will fix it (then relogin/rexecute bash so
readline library picks it up.). Perhaps this needs to be added to our new user
skel (do we even install one of those?)
Comment 2 Andraž 'ruskie' Levstik 2006-07-20 12:33:32 UTC
We don't configure stuff for the users... we leave it for them to configure it.
Though I belive iuso was messing with adding a custom inputrc. Yup it's in INSTALL.
Comment 3 Seth Woolley 2006-07-20 12:40:31 UTC
It should be an optional feature of readline and zsh, default to off, of course,
but this is a rather _basic_ thing we can automate for people, so I do want it
in there, so we don't have to have people figure it all out on their own.
Comment 4 Andraž 'ruskie' Levstik 2006-07-20 12:47:20 UTC
Yeah optional that's how it should be done... on all... Also thi inputrc was
created by iuso but he seems to have forgotten to add a queary to install it or not.
Comment 5 Seth Woolley 2006-07-20 12:49:44 UTC
Yeah, please knock him over the head and get him to add a query. That violates
our policy. If we're automating part of something we do really need to have it
work, and hcnce this bug is valid as a result.
Comment 6 Jeremy Blosser 2006-07-20 15:53:50 UTC
I reopened bug 10021.
Comment 7 Juuso Alasuutari 2006-09-21 16:33:05 UTC
I've done stuff with 10021, please have a look. I'd like to know if xterm and
others still behave like this with the latest readline when /etc/inputrc is
selected for install. Anyone?
Comment 8 Arwed v. Merkatz 2008-06-16 12:21:10 UTC
This now applies to stable grimoire (0.22).
